Your best friend at your wedding
For many couples planning an adventure wedding or elopement, one question matters just as much as the location or the vows: can our dog be there too? On the Isle of Skye, where weddings are shaped by landscape, freedom, and connection, it feels only natural that your best four-legged friend should be part of the story. As an Isle of Skye–based photographer with deep local knowledge, I’ve had the privilege of documenting weddings and elopements where dogs aren’t just guests, but family. I have rescue dogs and I can’t imagine them not being part of my special days.

Dogs bring an honesty to wedding photography that can’t be staged. Whether it’s a windswept elopement on a Skye beach, a quiet lochside ceremony, or a golden-hour walk beneath the Cuillin, dogs ground the day in something real. They calm nerves, spark laughter, and remind couples to stay present. For many of my clients, the idea of getting married without their dog simply doesn’t feel right—and my role is to make sure including them feels effortless.
Photographing dogs at weddings, especially in wild and remote locations like the Isle of Skye, requires more than just patience. It requires understanding the environment. From tides and weather systems to livestock, cliffs, and changing light, Skye is a place that demands respect and experience. Knowing which locations are dog-friendly, when a beach is safe to access, or how to plan portraits without overwhelming an excitable pup is part of what I bring to every wedding day. This local insight allows couples to relax, knowing their dog’s safety and comfort are always considered.
For adventure elopements, dogs often become natural companions throughout the day—joining boat journeys, short hikes, or celebratory walks after the ceremony. These moments create some of the most meaningful images: muddy paws on wedding dresses, noses pressed into bouquets, or quiet companionship as the light fades. Rather than forcing dogs into poses, I photograph them as they are, weaving their presence naturally into the visual story.
For couples whose biggest worry is logistics—Who holds the lead? Will they behave? Is this allowed here?—my experience helps remove that stress. I regularly work with intimate timelines, flexible plans, and dog-inclusive ceremonies, offering guidance that makes the experience feel seamless rather than complicated.
If you’re planning a wedding or elopement on the Isle of Skye and can’t imagine the day without your dog, you’re not alone. Your wedding should reflect your life as it truly is—and for many couples, that life includes a loyal companion who has been there through everything. Photographing those bonds, in one of the most beautiful places in Scotland, is something I care deeply about.
