Wild and romantic adventure and elopement photography on the Isle of Skye

An island wedding made in New York City..married at the Cullin Hills Hotel, Isle of Skye

This was a wedding with islands at it’s heart. Flora is from Skye, groom David is from Trinidad and they met in Manhattan. The initial reaction of David’s friends and relatives to Skye’s biting January cold made me wonder if they would question the decision to marry on Skye rather than in the Caribbean.. but their second reaction was to fall in love with the beauty of our island. Living in New York and with Flora’s job regularly taking her overseas to some of the world’s wildest places our initial communication were all via email. A week before the wedding I met with Flora and David for the first  time..we talked for a long time – about Skye and people we both know and their jobs (David is a musician and Flora works in former and sometimes current war zones) and before we knew it a couple of hours had drifted by. We jumped into a 4 x 4 (this has been an icy Highland winter) and headed, in the low winter sun, for Glenbrittle beach. There could not have been a more perfect spot for their pre wedding portraits. All the organisation and logistics of planning a wedding from overseas and with a very international guest list faded away and I loved watching this great couple relax and simply enjoy just being on a deserted Skye beach … The wedding day was quite simply overflowing with family, friends, faith and love..here are the images…
