Wild and romantic elopement and wedding photography on the Isle of Skye For those who adventure

Garden summer wedding Isle of Skye

Garden summer wedding Isle of Skye

There are many additional things to think about when planning and photographing a garden summer wedding on the Isle of Skye during the Corona virus pandemic. Social distancing has really impacted upon the numbers that can attend (in person), how a religious service looks and sounds (no singing), creative new ways to photograph from a distance and to create impactful images while observing current social mores.

Joanna and David crossed many hurdles and navigated uncharted waters in finally arriving at their wedding day. Finally, after many iterations, plans that changed again and again  the couple decided up a backyard summer wedding they stood together on the deck of David’s parents house (August 2020) overlooking the sea on a sparkling and hot west coast summer day near the Isle of Skye. Once ther,e the worries and the stresses of the weeks and months before and we were all carried away by the romance, love and intimacy of their day.

The ceremony was led by minister and friend of the family and David’s brother had composed and played a piece of music especially for their day. The sound of the music floating out from their garden, around the surrounding hills and across the sea to the Isle of Skye was incredibly special.

Despite the changes, or perhaps in spite of them, what hasn’t changed is the sheer joy of each wedding day.

Following the ceremony we took off to Elgol on the Isle of Skye. Those moments that the bride and groom spend together just after their wedding ceremony are so precious – and wee weddings have expanded the time that is available to take a moment and to breathe in and simply delight in the importance of the day and being together. It was a simple and perfect day (if we ignore the horrid moment when Joanna hurt her ankle – but the kindness of the people of Elgol with advice, ice and a bag of peas helped!)
The ceremony and speeches were live streamed around the world and we knew that people were watching and sharing their hopes and love for the couple everywhere.

Kind words from Joanna, David and family about the photography of their Isle of Skye summer wedding

“We are so glad that you were free, we had the best time. The pictures are stunning! I cried when I saw how lovely they are and our families think they are amazing. “

“Anne and I would like to thank you very much for the great photographs of the recent wedding. You captured the casual essence of the wedding perfectly and much of the beautiful scenery. You also managed to get some shots of the castle so it makes it all worthwhile 😊 We appreciate that you stayed longer to capture some of our ‘reception’, this provided a complete record of our perfect day. It was a great day and much more memorable because of the great creativity and production of your photographs.

You had a very casual approach throughout the day and did not stress the family or the couple, while still capturing some outstanding pictures for us to cherish forever. Both my children are now married however, if anyone asks for a recommendation for an outstanding photographer in north west of Scotland then for sure we will recommend you highly.”

No wedding backyard or cathedral is complete without a host of suppliers putting their heart and soul into making everything perfect for the day.
