It would be fair to say that I am not known for photographs of the small but important details that go into making up a wedding day. My work is usually associated with images of happy couples amidst splendid and stunning landscapes on the Isle of Skye. However I do take a great and usually quiet delight in photographing the flowers and the shoes and the seeming minutae of the surroundings of a wedding day that all add to the overall story and memories of the day. My greatest pleasure is in photographing the wedding rings. Although it may be known only to the couple – or it may even be a detail of their day that is overlooked until they see the final images – there is a particular meaning to each of these photographs about the where and the when of each wedding day.
Another happy reminisence for me is that many of these rings were created by the lovely Paul and Bryony of Love from Skye – their own wedding was the final wedding that I photographed in 2015 and their rings feature in this collection of images.
