A handmade island wedding, Isle of Skye

The word that springs to mind instantly when I look back at the images of Katy and Will’s wedding is simply beautiful. This handmade island wedding, Isle of Skye  The people, the venue, our island, the weather (well for most of the day!) the design of the day  that the bride and groom poured their hearts into and the overriding atmosphere of the day was one of beauty and happiness.

Skye girl weds Australian boy

Katy is a Skye girl and met Australian architect Will while he was working on Skye. Now they are (temporarily we hope ) enjoying life in Melbourne and took on the massive challenge of organising there wedding from afar. Will and I exchanged middle of the night emails, Katy and her mother in law to be went wedding dress shopping in New Zealand and the 1000 other things that need to be done to create such a beautiful day were co-ordinated with help from friends and family.

The wedding took place at Kinlochfollart House, a former manse on the shores of Loch Dunvegan. The ceremony, conducted by Katy’s former headmaster and now humanist celebrant John Howieson was held in the gardens under sparkling September Skye sunshine before a wonderful meal at the Old School before we headed to the village hall – again beautifully transformed by Katy and Will to ceilidh. Shot, as I love to work, in a documentary style here is the story of their day.
