A truly romantic Skye love story. Aaron and Jennifer decided to be  married among mountains at Loch Coruisk, Elgol, Isle of Skye. The couple had booked their summer vacation to Scotland and were looking forward to their holiday which was due to start in 4 weeks. Browsing the internet to research destinations in Scotland and browsing wedding blogs (as you do!) Jennifer came across the lovely We Fell in Love blog and a feature about Ashley and Craig’s elopement to Loch Coruisk. The couple fell in love again – but this time with Loch Coruisk the stunning loch set amongst a bowl of mountains on the Isle of Skye.

Accessible by foot or boat only it is a romantic escape like no other. Within 24 hours they had booked a trip on the Misty Isle , the celebrant John Howieson and me to photograph their day…as Aaron said in one of a series of late night emails “this is getting real now!” Jennifer and Aaron brought their Moms with them to share their day but otherwise the utmost secrecy surrounded their wedding plans. I do love being part of a huge and wonderful secret! We met for a coffee the evening before their day and hid from a torrential summer rain storm in a cosy cafe – and made contingency plans – but on the day the weather could not have been more perfect…..a day of sunshine, handfasting, whisky drinking the like of which I have never seen before, seals .. and love….

Jennifer is my best friend Anne’s daughter. I was able to help the mother of the bride with finding a dress for the nuptials not knowing about the secret. I figured it out before our girlfriend weekend was over. 🙂 Before she left for Scotland I helped Anne with the “something old, new, borrowed and blue” for Jenny. It ended up being a fairytale wedding! You captured it beautifully!ReplyCancel

It’s a rare wedding that captures the unique character of a couple so well–your happiness and beauty shine through so clearly against the backdrop of Skye. So happy for you both! And I just realized, since Aaron is my “work son” Jennifer is now my “work daughter-in-law”! Awesome!ReplyCancel
