North Uist and Berneray islands wedding
North Uist and Berneray wedding adventure
Alice and Douglas brought 2 islands together on their wedding day. North Uist and Berneray and both islands feature in their wedding photographs. This is what Alice said about their day:
“Our wedding 7.7.17:
We had a truly amazing day on 7.7.17. We knew wanted to get married in North Uist as that is where we both live. Other than the dresses, all our suppliers were based in Uist and of course, our wonderful photographer travelled over the Minch from Skye. Everything worked out perfectly and even the weather didn’t disappoint. It was a perfect day from beginning to end. We are delighted with our photos as they capture the day so well. Thank you, Rosie.”
Any wedding that begins with a ferry journey is always a good one. Sailing from Uig on Skye to Lochboisdale for a week at the beginning of July was a perfect start to our summer. We took a small traditional cottage on the tiny island of Berneray for a week and spent an idyllic time running and walking on Berneray’s glorious white sand beaches. Every where we went on the island the talk was of the “the wedding”.
I loved being part of Alice and Douglas’ day. When I saw the white wedding flags flying on the morning of the wedding it was clear it was going to be a very special day for the family and the community. From an uproarious morning getting ready at Alice’s parents house (with her Mum preparing endless bacon rolls and coffee) to a dash across the island to church and then a drive north to Berneray to visit Douglas’ beloved grandmother and croft to the meal for hundreds and the “lively ” dancing it was a day to cherish.
