Loch Coruisk Elopement wedding planning, Isle of Skye (during Covid!)
Planning a wedding during a pandemic AND being on opposite sides of the Atlantic for much of 2020 would test many couples. Jo and Rick made it look easy despite many hurdles (including a back injury just days before the wedding) along the way. Simplicity and celebrating being on the beautiful Isle of Skye was central to their day. Depsite Covid affecting every aspect of life the couple were able to travel to Skye to stay in accommodation belonging to student friend Kate (who was also able to act as witness and piper at their wedding – multiskilling taken to new highs!) and arrange for one of the most beautiful autumn days to enjoy a day of adventuring around Skye to celebrate. It worked so perfectly, in great part, due to the team work of all the wedding suppliers who worked together to move dates and synch diaries and collectively cross our fingers that the weather would hold for the date that was finally planned.
Elopement wedding day, Isle of Skye from Loch Coruisk to the Quiraing and Fairy Glen
To make the most of the day we planned an early start. Poor Heather at Bee Bonnie had a wee small hours alarm call to get Jo looking utterly amazing for her day – and a boat was booked to sail us to Loch Coruisk from Elgol with Misty Isle Boat Trips at 9 30 am. We even had kilted boatmen to sail the couple towards the Cuillin. The bunting on the boat fluttered in the gentlest breeze as we stopped by the seal colony in Loch Scavaig before landing and hiking the short distance to Loch Coruisk. Despite the autumn date we were bathed in sunshine during the ceremony and our time exploring Loch Coruisk. We had the entire loch to ourselves, with the exception of one deer who settled down near the ceremony location to watch proceedings!
As we sailed back to Elgol we enjoyed drinks on deck and simply enjoyed the scenery.
Returning to shore Jo, Rick and I headed off to explore more of the Isle of Skye and to stop for photographs along the way. Perhaps Jo’s favourite stop involved the Highland cow calf that we met! After lunch we wandered along Allt Dearg at Sligachan, surrounded by the Cuillin peaks. From there to the Quiraing where the couple were magnificently photobombed by paragliders who whooshed by apologising for coming between me and the couple! “Duck” I yelled to Jo and Rick during one flyby! and finally to sunset and alpine glow on the hills of the Fairy Glen.
What a wonderful, amazing day full of scene stealing photobombers! Congratulations to the loveliest of couples and many thanks to the amazing Skye elopement wedding people who made it all so easy and so much fun.
elopement dream team!
