A Wild Loch Coruisk Elopement on the Isle of Skye | James & Becky

Loch Coruisk elopement wedding with Cuillin mountains

James and Becky’s Loch Coruisk elopement on the Isle of Skye was a wedding defined by meaning, adventure, and a deep emotional connection to place. Nestled beneath the dramatic Cuillin mountains, Loch Coruisk is one of Skye’s most remote and awe-inspiring locations, making it the perfect setting for an intimate elopement wedding in Scotland.

Both James and Becky work in roles that shape their outlook on life and their desire for authenticity. Rather than a traditional wedding, they wanted an experience that felt grounding, personal, and reflective of who they are. Skye had long held a special place in their hearts, and Loch Coruisk in particular became meaningful after a visit the previous year, when they met their celebrant, Rona Burstow. That encounter planted the seed for what would later become a deeply intentional Isle of Skye elopement.

An Intimate Elopement Ceremony in the Heart of Skye

Reaching Loch Coruisk is an adventure in itself. Travelling by boat with Misty Isle Boat Trips, the journey across the sea heightens the sense of leaving the everyday world behind. As the Cuillin ridge slowly reveals itself, the scale and wildness of the landscape becomes unmistakable. It is this remoteness that makes a Loch Coruisk elopement wedding so powerful — there are no distractions, just nature, commitment, and connection.

Their ceremony was quiet, heartfelt, and entirely their own. Surrounded by ancient mountains and the still waters of the loch, James and Becky exchanged vows that felt perfectly at home in such an elemental place. Love Skye Photography documented the day through both photography and videography, creating a fine art visual record rooted in storytelling and atmosphere. With an emphasis on local knowledge and understanding — and as a Skye native — their approach allowed the landscape and emotion to be captured with honesty and depth. We were also honoured to act as witnesses, sharing in the experience as well as documenting it.

A Wild Swim and a Painted Memory

As the day unfolded, James and Becky fully embraced the spirit of adventure, ending their elopement with a wild swim in Loch Coruisk — a joyful and unforgettable way to celebrate their marriage. Adding a final creative layer to their story, Skyesketcher later created a painting of their elopement, transforming fleeting moments into a lasting piece of art.

This Isle of Skye elopement was a reminder that weddings don’t need to be large to be profound. Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations happen in the wildest places, guided by love, intention, and a shared sense of adventure.
