An Isle of Skye Elopement
Terry-Jo and Dan arrived in secret on the Isle of Skye with a bag full of postcards. On the morning of their wedding they posted cards to their friends and family to tell them that by the time they received the card Terry-Jo and Dan would be married. “We have to go through with it now!” Not that there was any doubt!
A few family members were in on the secret and the group had made their Skye base at the Flodigarry House Hotel where the couple got ready on the morning of the wedding. From their rooms we could see the beach where they planned to marry and the hills and cliffs we planned to explore for photographs after their ceremony. As ever on Skye the only real doubt on the day was the weather.
As so often happens the threatening weather cleared just in time for the ceremony at the beach and allowed a few moments for some rather windswept family photos before Terry-Jo slipped a stylish wedding rain cape over her dress and we went searching for the (notoriously hard to find) dinosaur footprints at the other end of the beach and the family headed back to the hotel for champagne.
We drove up into the hills sharing stories of travelling and bonding over a mutual love of Skye and Iceland before bracing against the storm that was blowing in for dramatic photographs at the Quiraing.
