Wild Gorse Highland Flower School
Telling a florist’s tale at Wild Gorse and the story of the day of their Professional Course installation was one of those gifts of day that I love to photograph.. Both the people and the floral works brought so much joy and creativity to the day.
Wild Gorse is a floral studio in the Scottish Highlands with a creative twist utilising foraged and locally sourced materials to produce wedding floristry and installations that are immediately identifiable as the work of Julia’s studio. The Highland Floral School at her Belladrum studio crafts 6 month professional floristry courses which nurture and develop students artisrty. I spent the day with Julia and the professional students documenting their large installation day – and simply revelling in their company, creativity and the glorious plants and flowers woven into their vision. It was nothing short of a photographer’s dream.
Installation day
We began the day with tea and chat and planning and selecting seasonal flowers. Next the flowers were piled into what became the most beautiful truck in Scotland for the day! After several hours of hard work from the students a gorgeous rustic barn on the Belladrum Estate (more often filled with cocktails and beers at festival time) was transformed into a dream space. Scroll through the beautiful images to see the final realisation of the students visions.
